Futile Horn12.26.2003 - 5:18 pm (I'm actually incapable of smiling) I was expecting to be well today. My throat had mostly recovered for Christmas dinner, even thought my sister said I still had a bit of Kermit the Frog voice left. Well, I woke up with a rash all over my head, neck, and shoulders, and some of my features have swollen to make me look about 15 years older. I’m never leaving the house again. Because my voice still isn’t strong enough to sing, I can’t really record songs right now, but I thought I could start tabbing some of them. The one I decided to work on tonight is an older, slow sad lost love song that I wrote before I started paying any real attention to time (I decided I would write songs before I made much of any hands-on attempt to learn music, and I guess there were some things I just ignored the first couple of times), and I noticed that I had seemed to have written a song with five beats per measure. It’s not what I’d call properly five beats per measure like Eastern music, but it feels more like 1 and 4, with a chord change on the second beat, so it sounds like I’ve got little runt 1 beat measures floating amid normal sized measures. I would think it was just a dumb idiot amateur thing to do, but… I dunno, maybe it works. Born to play the funky céilí,
